Are you preparing to implement radical changes to
your
curriculum to include more ‘out-of-classroom learning’? Coursework is disappearing for the 2010
assessments at GCSE and A-level, while the National Curriculum for year
7 and
AS levels changed in September 2008. Out
of classroom learning is part of the evidence need for the Self
Evaluation Form
(SEF).
Are
you ready?
Coursework has been the focus for many
secondary schools’
out of classroom visits, so school teachers are looking for other ways
to make
learning meaningful. Fortunately, GCSE
and A-level geography and science pupils still need to show that they
are able
to collect data in the field. This is a
wonderful opportunity for pupils to present this information to the
local
community to inform others as well as learn something themselves.
We can share our experience of organising a
visit, make contact with Quality badge accredited out of classroom
providers
and help you create teaching materials suited to your pupils and
school’s
needs. We can take the worry out of
taking out pupils to a new venue and help collect evidence for the
citizenship,
sustainability and out of classroom learning elements of SEF.
